Waist and inseam, section by section

Every pair on this site is sized by two numbers: the waist in inches and the inseam in inches. The tables below show what we actually carry at each pairing, counted from the catalogue rather than from a standard chart.

  • Waists run from 30 to 60 inches across the catalogue.
  • Inseams on offer: 29, 30, 32, 34, 36 inches.
  • 13 of 27 styles run past a 40 inch waist. How the extended sizes translate.

What we carry at each pairing

Pick a section. A number in the box is how many styles we carry at that waist and that leg length.

How to measure

Two measurements and one judgement call

Step 1

Your waist

Stand as you normally do and run the tape around where the waistband of your trousers actually sits, which for most men is just above the hip bone rather than at the navel. Keep the tape level all the way round and do not pull it tight.

Step 2

Your inseam

Take a pair of trousers that already sit right, lay them flat and measure the inner seam from the crotch join down to the hem. That number is your inseam. Measuring your leg while wearing shoes gives a longer figure than the label uses.

Step 3

Between two sizes

Our waistbands give as you sit, so a snug waist relaxes on the body rather than digging in. If your measurement lands between two waist sizes, take the smaller one in a style with an expanding waistband and the larger one without.
